Therapies for Men's Health
Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE)
is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia
(BPH), a common condition in older men characterized by an enlarged
prostate that can cause urinary difficulties.
PAE involves blocking the
blood flow to the prostate, reducing its size and alleviating symptoms
without the need for traditional surgery.
During PAE, our specialists use advanced imaging techniques to guide
the insertion of a catheter into the arteries supplying the prostate.
Tiny particles are then injected to block these arteries, causing the
prostate to shrink. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia,
and patients typically experience less pain and a quicker recovery
compared to conventional surgical methods.
Treatment: PAE offers an effective, less invasive
alternative to surgery for men with BPH. The procedure results in
significant symptom relief and improved quality of life, with minimal
risks and a shorter recovery period.
Varicocele Embolization
is a minimally invasive
procedure to treat varicoceles, which are
enlarged veins within the scrotum that can cause pain, testicular
atrophy, and infertility.
This condition is similar to varicose veins
and occurs when blood pools in the veins, leading to swelling and
discomfort.
During the embolization procedure, our specialists use advanced
imaging techniques to guide a catheter to the affected veins. Small
coils or a sclerosing agent are then introduced to block the veins,
redirecting blood flow and relieving symptoms. This outpatient procedure
is performed under local anesthesia, ensuring minimal discomfort and a
quick recovery.
A varicocele is a commonly occurring condition in
younger men. Most are harmless, but they may cause scrotal pain,
testicular atrophy, and can be associated with infertility. A varicocele
is a network of varicose veins in the scrotum.
